About Us
The story of our Portuguese muffins began over four decades ago when the lopes family came to the United States and realized a familiar staple from the Azores was missing. Using a traditional family recipe, they began baking Portuguese muffins in 1975, starting as a small family operation.
The muffins quickly gained a following, first in local shops throughout Cape Cod and later in restaurants and specialty markets. As demand grew, the business expanded from home baking into a dedicated bakery with broader distribution.
In 1988, the product received national attention when it was featured in The New York Times, followed by coverage in specialty food publications recognizing its role in regional food culture.
Today, we focus on doing one thing well-making Portuguese Muffins. Branded as Port Muffin The 3-Meal Muffin, they're enjoyed beyond breakfast and crafted with the same care, consistency, and original recipe that started it all.
